HOW TO REACH THE EXPOSITION SITE

  • BY UNDERGROUND RAILWAY: Red Line

expo_milano_metro_mappa

To reach the Exposition Site by underground (metro), purchase an extra-urbano (extra-urban) ticket, and take Linea 1 Rossa (Red line 1) to Rho Fiera Milano station. Duomo and Cadorna are on Line 1, where they connect to the city’s other underground lines.

Travel time to the expo site is expected to be about 25 minutes from Piazza Duomo, 20 minutes from Stazione Cadorna, 35 minutes from Stazione Centrale, and 30 minutes from Stazione Garibaldi.

Exiting the Rho Fiera Milano underground station, which is close to the Fiorenza Ovest access point, visitors take the steps to the Security Plaza.

Once through the security checks, visitors cross the Expo-Fiera pedestrian footbridge (PEF) to reach the Expo Site. There are ticket booths and visitor services in the access area of the Rho Fiera Milano metro station. With the red line you can also reach the main park and ride (Molino Dorino and Lampugnano).

At peak times there is a subway train every two minutes, that transports 36 thousand travellers per hour.

On weekdays the last bus is at 00:10, and on weekends at 00:40. The cost of a round-trip ticket is 5 euro.

When the metro services end, there is the night bus replacement, seven days a week, for all of the six months of the exhibition.

  • BY TRAIN: RHO Fiera Station

You can reach the Exposition Site by train, following the signs for the new Expo railway station Rho Fiera, that will connect regional railway lines to Milan’s underground metro lines. TRENITALIA is official transport carrier.
Tickets at www.ItaliaRail.com.

Expected travel-time is about 19 minutes from Stazione Garibaldi.

From Milan, the suburban services S5 and S6 as well as S14 (originating in Rogoredo) of the passante service, stop at Rho Fiera Milano, while passengers from Monza, Seregno, and Como can take line S11. Regional train services from Arona, Domodossola, Varese, and Turin will also stop at Rho Fiera Milano station.

Visitors arriving by High-Speed train (Treno Alta Velocità) access the Exposition Site via a new station at Porta Ovest. Also stopping here are the suburban and regional services.  This station offers direct access to the Rho Fiera Milano underground station.

  • BY TOUR BUS (COACH)

Tour buses will drop visitors at the long-term Merlata parking area. Depending on demand, tour buses may be diverted to the Roserio Terminal. Advance booking is necessary.

From the Merlata parking area, visitors reach the security area via a pedestrian walkway. Once through the security checks, visitors cross the Expo-Fiera footbridge (PEF) to reach the Expo Site.

The Roserio Terminal is a short distance on foot from the security area, which leads directly onto the Expo Site.

  • BY AIR

For those who reach the Expo 2015 by air, at Linate, Malpensa and Orio al Serio, respectively 30, 42 and 54 km from Rho Fiera, there is a direct shuttle bus.

  • BY TAXI

Taxis will drop passengers either at:

– Merlata (Sud)

Roserio (Est)

which are a short walk to the security areas.

  • BY CAR

Three motorways can bring you to EXPO 2015:

-the A4 Turin-Milan-Venice,

-the A8 / A9 Milan-Como-Chiasso and Milan-Varese

-the West Ring Highway, which continues south and flows into the A1 Milan-Rome-Naples.

The Expo area itself is totally no-car and the whole system of access is based on this principle. The only parking behind the site is Porta Merlata, but only buses can access.
