Pictures and Images Exhibition at Palazzo della Ragione
From June 17 – September 11 Palazzo della Ragione will be hosting the photographic exhibition of William Klein: The World on its Own. This exhibition will be held at the historical Palazzo della Ragione, which is a colorfully rich institution with an established reputation within Milan. This exhibition, which has also been presented at the Tate Modern in London as well as at the FOAM Fotografiemuseum in Amsterdam is a retrospective incorporating the accomplishments and creative caliber of the universally talented William Klein. This exhibition will not just highlight William Klein solely as a photographer, but also as a filmmaker, designer, artist, and writer.
This exhibition will saturate the spaces within Palazzo della Ragione with a rejuvenated, exceptional installation and a new groundbreaking production, created precisely for this exhibition through an abundant multimedia setup. William Klein is renowned for his ironic and innovative perspective to both media and his extensive use of unusual photographic techniques (substantial use of wide-angle and telephoto lens, natural lighting, motion blur, open flash, etc.) in the context of photojournalism and fashion photography. The exhibition is divided into 9 themes: Abstractions, New York, Rome, Moscow, Tokyo, Paris, Fashion, Contact Paintings, and Film.
